Worth the Wait – New Moon

If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again! After an unsuccessful first bid to see New Moon, I finally got into a screening yesterday afternoon. It was awesome! I loved the book, so I’m actually a little surprised I liked the movie as much as I did. Normally, movies based on books just seem to disappoint me. It was nice to be wrong! (If you haven’t seen the movie yet, I suggest skipping to the last paragraph of this post.)

I know leading up to the movie there has been a lot of talk about Team Edward vs. Team Jacob. Even after reading the book, I didn’t get it. The relationships between Bella and the two boys were so different that I just couldn’t grasp the comparison. Obviously Edward was the one for her. After watching the movie, I surprised myself with how much I liked Jacob more than Edward! Maybe it was cinematic magic, maybe it was screen time domination, maybe it was only my mood last night. Either way, I found myself unexpectedly and totally on Team Jacob.

Another pleasant surprise was Dakota Fanning’s (brief) role as Jane. She has certainly grown up since her days in I am Sam and Uptown Girls! (Both excellent movies by the way.) I especially loved her expression when she realized that her powers had no impact on Bella. She is definitely going to be able to make the transition from child to adult actor. So far she has also been able to avoid any major scandals or embarrassments. Here’s hoping she keeps this trend up!

Dakota is pictured (all grown up!) at the New Moon premier in Los Angeles. Absolutely love the dress – not so sure about the shoes. A better option may have been something similar to the Nina Ulexa Sandal. I really like the texture this shoe would have added to her outfit. It’s pictured in black, but is also available in red or ivory. Any of these color choices would have worked with Dakota’s outfit and fit a little better with the very feminine feel of that gorgeous frock.

One of my favorite shows on tv right now has to be 90210. The characters are stylish, the topics are intense, and the show itself creates the perfect excuse for a weekly girls’ night. (It doesn’t hurt that Melrose Place plays the same night!)

Jennie Garth is one of the few characters from the original series who returned to the CW, and the most visible throwback character on the show. She plays a school counselor who may have a thing for her (married) boss. I can’t wait to see where her storyline goes the rest of this season. I’m not sure I want her to break-up a marriage, but it would add an interesting new twist. If you have a strong opinion on the matter, sound off in the comment section below! I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Relationship drama doesn’t appear to play much of a role in Jennie’s real life. She’s married to Peter , who plays Dr. Carlisle Cullen in the popular Twilight movie series. (I can’t wait to watch New Moon in the theater in the next few days!) The couple has three daughters together. Jennie recently gave Celebrity-Babies.com an in-depth look at her happy family life. Some of the secrets she revealed include how she gets her kids to eat healthy, how she and Peter keep their relationship strong while working thousands of miles apart, and her thoughts on expanding her family.

As if having a successful acting career and an adorable family weren’t enough, Jennie also has a fun sense of style. She’s pictured here attending the premier of New Moon, sporting a spiced up version of ‘the little black dress.’ Adding in an unexpected dress shape and fancy material goes a long way in helping her stand out from the crowd. A sassy black platform pump doesn’t hurt either! To steal her look for less, check out the BCBGeneration Holmy Pump.

A Night of Crazy Dreams Come True

Although I have been a fan of country music since I was in elementary school, I have to say I am loving it even more now. The whole genre is expanding into new areas, with unique talent leading the way. Two of my favorite forces behind these changes had big nights Wednesday at the CMA awards in Nashville.

Taylor Swift raked in the winnings, walking away with awards for Music Video, Album, Female Vocalist, & Entertainer of the Year. I know some people were shocked that she was able to pull off wins in so many categories, but I wasn’t. She is an amazing artist, songwriter and role model, and is equally talented at live performances. She is also a surprisingly good comedian, as showcased by her appearance on SNL last weekend. You can’t ignore the crossover power of this songstress.

I also loved Carrie Underwood’s gig as host for the evening. Although she didn’t walk away with any awards, she did an awesome job co-hosting the awards with Brad Paisley. I especially loved their performance of classic country songs towards the beginning of the show. She also scored, by far, the best performance of the night with ‘Cowboy Casanova.’ (Check out the different black shoes the backup dancers are sporting – LOVE IT.)

Carrie brought her own personal style to the awards, sporting a new outfit pretty much every time she stepped back on stage. As usual, she did not disappoint! This girl knows fashion! Take a look at Carrie leaving the David Letterman show earlier this month. I love her boots-over-leggings look. Copy the look with the Luichiny Caliente Maaa Velous Boot. Not so keen on such high heels? The Rampage Quattro Boot is for you! Each boot is available for under seventy-five dollars.

I like Kristen’s fashion style here much better than her Proenza Schouler she wore to the London premiere. This is very simple and put together paired with a hot pair of dark red pumps similar to the Naughty Monkey Hands Down pump that retails for $74.95.

Head to the box office right away if you can’t wait to see New Moon!
