Allan and Silvana Clark began their Soles4Souls RV journey back in March 2009. In traveling across the country, they stop in cities just like ours meeting people who support S4S. In the beginning of their journey their hope was that this tour would raise an awareness of the number of people around the world that need shoes. They also want to show people how they can make a difference in the world by donating their gently used shoes. While they were here they mentioned that they had logged 37,000 miles just in 2009 alone! You can follow them on their journey by reading their Soles4Souls RV Tour Blog.

Watch for the giant blue RV, because it may be rolling into your town next! Their upcoming stops include: Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Dallas, New Orleans, Atlanta and many more!

According to the official Soles4Souls website, Soles4Souls is a Nashville-based charity that collects shoes from the warehouses of footwear companies and the closets of people like you. The charity distributes these shoes free of charge to people in need, regardless of race, religion, class, or any other criteria. Rompers, jumpers, jumpsuits… whatever you are calling them, babies are not the only ones wearing them this summer! Depending on where you shop, retailers are not all on the same page, and not sure what to call them yet, but I will call them rompers for sake of keeping things somewhat simple. 

Many celebrities are seen out and about with these cute, trendy outfits on as well. Alicia Keys was on Good Morning America last week wearing this all white, belted romper while performing on stage. With 4th of July festivities right around the corner, I have been thinking about summer picnics and BBQ’s. My family is known for having at least a few BBQ’s every summer to gather friends and family and have a great meal, play some games and of course… to socialize and chit-chat!

So, what do you wear to these type of events?  You want to be casual and comfortable yet not look like you’re ready for the beach. Tiffany Bell from Associated Content has these tips for us: Some good questions to ask yourself to see if you are barbecue/picnic ready would be: Can you bend over while tossing a football around? Avoid too short of shorts or a miniskirt that you can’t move in. Can you clean your outfit in the washer and dryer, or is it dry-clean only? You don’t want to be wearing your best to a barbecue. Can you walk in the grass? Stilettos or higher heels are not ideal for a picnic where you will be walking in a lot of grass because your heels will sink into the ground leaving you feeling uncomfortable.

Cameron Diaz and Tom Cruise are seen here from Good Morning America promoting their new movie coming out “Knight and Day” (which I cannot wait to go see!). Although they are not on their way to a barbecue here, they definitely could wear what they have on to one! Cameron has the style and poise to be on her way to that picnic of yours. She is prepared for the weather. It is always nice to wear or bring a button up oxford shirt such as the one she has on or some type of light jacket or sweater in case the weather changes during the course of the day.

What to Wear to a BBQ or Summer Picnic

When it comes to your feet, many people tend to opt towards a flip-flop or ultra comfy sandal. For those of you that don’t care to wear flip-flops don’t worry because there are many more options out there. Outdoor Wedding

My husband and I are featured in this post. Although it seems like a lifetime ago, we were married in August two years ago. 

Outdoor weddings can be very beautiful but may involve more planning and wiggle room for changes at the last minute. Some things to think about and important tips for having a successful outdoor wedding include:

1) Don’t rely on the weather
It’s important to have a back-up plan in case it is raining or the weather will not be suitable for your plans. This could be a church, your reception hall, or anywhere that can fit your wedding party and your guests.

2) Your guests
A common problem with outdoor weddings is that your guests are not able to hear (this is mostly caused by wind or if you have a big wedding). Consider talking with your DJ about options they may have available to you.

3) Picking your date
Depending on your location, you may only want to plan your wedding during certain months. Traditionally, June has always been the most popular month for couples to get married. According to the National Center for Health Statistics, July and August are actually overtaking June as the most popular month. Whichever month you choose, make sure it is right for your location!

4) Shoes
Of course shoes are important, and especially on your wedding day. A flat or wedged heel will probably be your best choice with an outdoor wedding since you will probably be walking in grass or possibly even standing in grass most of the time. Our resident shoe experts Anna, Pepsi, and Rachel have decided on their suggestions for an outdoor wedding.

Being a fan of Desperate Housewives, I naturally follow Teri Hatcher, and I recently heard about GetHatched.com, and thought it was something worthwhile to talk about.
