I love reading – news, magazines, books – it doesn’t matter. So when my co-workers were talking about starting a book club last winter, I was all in. I had never been involved in one before and it sounded like a lot of fun! So far we’ve read our way through some diverse books, with meetings focused around food and fun. We’ve taken a more laidback approach this summer, choosing book/movie combos and holding our meetings at the local movie theater. Yesterday was our August get-together. After dinner at Olive Garden we headed over to watch Eat Pray Love starring Julia Roberts.

I’m not sure what to think of the movie. Having read the book first, I have to admit I was disappointed. The book had a wonderful and inspirational message, which I really think was completely lost in the film. I did enjoy the changing scenery as Julia’s character, Liz, traveled from Italy to India to Bali. The cultural differences were pretty intriguing to see. I think the casting was convincing as well. The characters really seemed to come alive and looked pretty similar to how I imagined they would look.

Fergalicious Jezebel Sandal

If you haven’t read the book yet, I would definitely suggest giving it a try first. It’s supposed to be a true story focusing on the author, Elizabeth Gilbert, and her year long journey of self-discovery. Along the way, she meets some amazing and diverse people. As a reader, you learn about her background and the personal issues that led her to the decision to forsake the comforts and heartbreaks of home and head off on her own. I don’t know that I would ever be brave enough to do what she did, but I was happy to travel vicariously through her!

Photographed by Patrick Demarchelier and wearing little but one of Burberry Prorsum’s fabulous military coats, we do note that Kate isn’t promoted as being a model for the issue but rather as a stylist.

Kate looks great as always and the military uniform gives her a little edge, but put together look.

In a strange twist that’s very telling of our current pop culture, every single man in the top 5 is either a vampire or a werewolf.  (Not literally of course, they just play one on tv. Or the big screen. Or in your imagination. Whatever.)  It should come as no surprise that Robert Pattinson took first place, especially since he is a product of the UK himself.  Rounding out the rest of the top five, in numerical order, are Taylor Lautner, Ian Somerhalder, Xavier Samuel and Kellan Lutz.  What a Twilight Reunion!

He may now officially be spoken of as ‘the hottest man in the world’ but it looks like Robert Pattison is also spoken for.  The last couple of weeks have brought about a new flurry of news regarding his relationship status with Kristen Stewart.  First came a photo from People.com showing the two hugging in Montreal. Can it be true? Is little Lizzie McGuire about to tie the knot? According to In Touch & MSN, Hilary Duff will be a married woman sometime this weekend.  The magazine is reporting that the wedding is set to go down in Santa Barbara at the San Ysidro Ranch.  Those little details like the Bachelor party and first dance choreography? Already taken care of as well!

Although I am not too proud of it, I will admit to going to The Lizzie McGuire movie with my friends.  I will not however reveal how old I was when the movie came out!  All I can say is we were definitely outside the target age group for the film.  Can I help it if we had a shared affection for all things Disney – which may or may not continue to this day?  Did anyone else out there watch the show about a decade ago?  Hopefully I’m not the only one!
