With 4th of July festivities right around the corner, I have been thinking about summer picnics and BBQ’s. My family is known for having at least a few BBQ’s every summer to gather friends and family and have a great meal, play some games and of course… to socialize and chit-chat!

So, what do you wear to these type of events?  You want to be casual and comfortable yet not look like you’re ready for the beach. Tiffany Bell from Associated Content has these tips for us: Some good questions to ask yourself to see if you are barbecue/picnic ready would be: Can you bend over while tossing a football around? Avoid too short of shorts or a miniskirt that you can’t move in. Can you clean your outfit in the washer and dryer, or is it dry-clean only? You don’t want to be wearing your best to a barbecue. Can you walk in the grass? Stilettos or higher heels are not ideal for a picnic where you will be walking in a lot of grass because your heels will sink into the ground leaving you feeling uncomfortable.

Cameron Diaz and Tom Cruise are seen here from Good Morning America promoting their new movie coming out “Knight and Day” (which I cannot wait to go see!). Although they are not on their way to a barbecue here, they definitely could wear what they have on to one! Cameron has the style and poise to be on her way to that picnic of yours. She is prepared for the weather. It is always nice to wear or bring a button up oxford shirt such as the one she has on or some type of light jacket or sweater in case the weather changes during the course of the day.

What to Wear to a BBQ or Summer Picnic

When it comes to your feet, many people tend to opt towards a flip-flop or ultra comfy sandal. For those of you that don’t care to wear flip-flops don’t worry because there are many more options out there. Espadrilles, gladiators, and huaraches are some other styles that are sure to leave you feeling comfortable.

The first is a one-shoulder black dress with gold geometrical shapes sticking out from it (this is not the first time!), if only we could see her shoes here, bummer! The second one she has on is a soft gold-colored 1920s style fringe dress with a matching headband… and check out those shoes! WOW! The third outfit is what she just wore to the 2009 MTV Music Awards this past September where she performed paparazzi live – and what a performance that was! 2) Fashionising.com talks about Spring and Summer Fashion Trends, and who doesn’t want to think about all the beautiful warm weather wear during this cold month?!

3) Splendicity.com has compiled Esquire’s 2010 Style Resolutions for the men in your life, there are some pretty good tips here!

4) Find the colors of Spring/Summer 2010 at FashionTrendsetter.com What are your favorites? I really like the salmon pinks, turquoises and purples! Very pretty!

…and last but not least

5) Refinery29.com brings all their knowledge with their predictions of style and trends into 2010 from the color turquoise (I said I liked it above, maybe I am headed in the right direction!) to long skirts, sheer shirts, clogs, and lower heels! Read along… there is plenty to talk about in this post!

The long awaited time will soon be coming to an end. New Moon comes out in theaters one week from today. It will be showing at 12:00am Friday, November 20, and you can only bet that if ticket offices aren’t already sold out they will be sold out very soon!

I know there are thousands of other Sex and the City fans out there just like me, practically dying to hear some news about the upcoming sequel coming out in May 2010. Well now we have it, and this week they have started filming. 

Sarah Jessica Parker aka Carrie Bradshaw, along with her three close friends Samantha (Kim Cattrall), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), and Charlotte (Kristin Davis) were all seen filming in Manhattan early yesterday morning in compelling style as always.  For all you fashion lovers, Carrie is wearing a white Halston dress, gold Christian Louboutin heels and a Chanel clutch.
